Frequently Asked Questions
How do I make reservations?
You can contact us by email, telephone, or through the contact form on our Reservations page. Please fill out the form entirely and include any special requests you might have. We will get back to you with availability and send you a Paypal link for the deposit. Please note you don't need to have a Paypal account in order to process the deposit. The Paypal link comes with clear instructions, and you can pay with debit or credit card. After receiving the funds, we will send you a confirmation email with further instructions and information about your trip.
Do I have to make reservations prior to arrival?
We strongly recommend to make reservations prior to arrival. During the high season from December through May we normally get booked 4 to 6 weeks ahead of time. In the event that you would like to make a last minute reservation, you may call us from your hotel to check on availability.

What forms of payment do you accept?
The deposit can be paid with credit or debit card through Paypal. The balance is due the day of your tour, and should be paid in cash, either USD or Mexican Pesos (we don't accept travelers checks). If you want to pay the balance with credit card, you should let us know with your reservation before arrival, and we will send you an additional Paypal link for the balance amount. Please note that credit card payments the day of the tour will include additional international bank transaction fees.
What is included in the price?
Our prices are for the private boat rental (not per person) and include boat ride and gasoline, services of the Captain and crew, fishing and snorkeling equipment, bait & tackle, fishing license, insurance, drinks (water, coke and 6 pack of local beer), cleaning & filleting, and all taxes and fees. Tip is not included, but appreciated!
Is transportation included with the charters?
We are happy to arrange a private taxi or shuttle service for you, but the transportation is not included with your charter unless specified. You will pay the drivers directly in cash at the time of pick up. Please let us know when making your reservation if you would like to add transportation.

Where is the meeting place?
We have departures from different docks in the Riviera Maya, depending on where you are staying and what charter you are reserving, but we most frequently leave from Downtown Playa del Carmen (Please see map on Reservations page.)
The meeting places are easily accessible by taxi and walking from downtown or along the beach. If you would like to make travel arrangements with us, please specify ahead of time.

What are the departure times?
Departure times are early in the morning or early afternoon, upon availability. We are flexible with departure times and will try to adjust to your vacation schedule.
What should I bring?
We recommend bringing sun protection and (biodegradable) sun screen, a towel, and your camera if you choose. You may bring extra drinks and snacks if you'd like to put in the cooler. There is limited storage aboard to keep personal things dry, so we recommend bringing just the necessities and not to carry large bags.
What can I do to prevent seasickness?
Seasickness is one of the biggest disappointments that can happen during a fishing trip. It is always sad for both guests and crew to have to abort a tour due to illness and refunds won't apply. If you worry about getting sea-sick, please take motion sickness medication ahead of time or apply the ear patch one night before the trip. Make sure you ask and purchase medications with your local pharmacist back home, since your options in Mexico are limited. Weather and ocean conditions can always change, so it's better to be safe than sorry!
Are children welcome on the boat?
Children ages 6 and over are allowed on the fishing and snorkeling trips, and ages 10 and over for spearfishing and must be accompanied by a parent at all times. Children must be of age to understand directions given by the Captain and boat crew for safety purposes, so we ask that you please respect this policy.
What happens in case of bad weather?
If there are adverse weather conditions or the port is closed on the date of your reservation, we will call you that morning to confirm cancellation, so it is important to stay in contact with us via email, text message, or Whatsapp when you arrive to Mexico. If we have to cancel your fishing trip and are unable to reschedule for another day, we will refund your deposit.
What can I expect to catch?
Fishing seasons vary depending on the time of year. Please see our fishing guide for Playa del Carmen to see what's commonly biting during the month of your trip. Please keep in mind that this sport is called fishing, not catching, so even with the most experienced and knowledgeable crew aboard, there is never a guarantee that you will catch your trophy fish. The Riviera Maya practices "Catch and Release" on large sport fish, and fishing for sharks is not permitted.
What do you do with the fish we catch?
Pezcaribe prides itself on ocean conservation and using catch and release methods for trophy fish such as Marlin, Sailfish, and shark. All other species are yours to keep and can either be filleted by your boat crew or taken to a nearby beach restaurant to enjoy with your group for a reasonable price per person.
